Campbells Rutherglen Half Bottle: Campbells Liqueur Muscat, Rutherglen
Brand: Campbells Rutherglen
Bright amber gold with copper tints. Fresh raisin fruit backed by a hint of grape spirit and aged oak characters rise from the glass. The palate is luscious and lingering with plenty of sun-ripened raisin fruit, typical of muscat from the Rutherglen region. The acid balance and tannin from barrel ageing prevents the wine from being cloyingly sweet. Blended for optimum flavour and balance at the time of bottling, this wine will not improve with further cellaring and should ideally be enjoyed soon after opening. This classification is the foundation of the style displaying fresh raisin aromas, rich fruit, clean spirit and great length of flavour on the palate. The Muscats of Rutherglen are considered the “World’s Richest Wines” and bear a mark of authenticity – an oval logotype with a stylised “R” – which is only applied to the wines drawn from the great Muscat vineyards of the region. The “Muscat of Rutherglen” trademark assures the highest quality of wine exclusively sourced from the Rutherglen Wine Region. Campbell’s ‘house style’ is typically complex and elegant, capturing a rich purity of raisin fruit flavours. This wine is made from 100% Rutherglen Muscat, Muscat a Petit Grains Rouge (Brown Muscat) from Campbells vineyards. Each season grapes are picked after prolonged ripening to ensure optimum balance, sugar levels and raisin character. The resultant wine is blended into the Rutherglen Muscat solera to maintain a consistent house style. This wine contains portions from a number of vintages over many years. Best served chilled. Try freezing and pouring the thick viscous liquid over vanilla ice-cream.(17.5% abv)
