Massaya Rose 2019
Brand: Massaya
The blend: 40% Cinsault, 30% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes came from hillside vineyards in the Beqaa Valley planted at an altitude of 900-1,200 metres above sea level. The soils are chalky clay. The vines are 30 years old on average. The hand-picked grapes were pressed, then the must was left to settle before it was fermented in stainless steel vats. It was bottled after eight months. Deliciously perfumed with fresh strawberry aromas and a touch of spice. This is a light peachy coloured ros‚, dry and fresh in style with creamy fruit on the palate. A very versatile ros‚, brilliante with food (see Chris?s blog in Lebanon ? lots of ros‚ is mentioned !). Made to be consumed when it?s fresh and lively with that persistant red summer berry length. A light 'barley-sugar' pink colour with strawberry fruit showing on the nose and with plenty of fruit on the palate with a very balanced acidity. abv 13.5% (2019 ) The Ghosn brothers, Sami and Ramzi, were determined to realize their dream by bringing to life great wines at their Tana‹l Property. To do this they decided to bring in priceless know-how to one of the world?s oldest wine producing regions. On 27 May, 1998, a partnership was formed with an ambition to produce a world class Lebanese wine in the Bekaa Valley. It brought together The Ghosn brothers - Sami and Ramzi - and Dominique H‚brard, owner of Chateau Trianon (and previous owner of Ch Cheval Blanc) and the Brunier brothers, Daniel and Fr‚d‚ric, co-proprietor at Le Vieux T‚l‚graphe. The new wine was to have a limited annual production and it was to be called Massaya, named after the time of day when twilight sets on the vineyard and the sky turns purple as the sun sets behind Mount-Lebanon. This prestigious Franco-Lebanese collaboration has united great men of wine and created optimum conditions for making great wine, taking advantage of the exceptional soil here in the Bekaa. The vineyards of the Tana‹l Estate are located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level in the Bekaa Valley, where the slopes are protected by Mount Lebanon and the Anti -Lebanon mountains. Free of frost and disease, the Bekaa Valley enjoys a unique climate with long gentle summers, wet winters and an average temperature of 25 degrees that is perfect for viticulture. Decanter Magazine, August 2017: this wine was voted into the Top 30 'Food Friendly' Ros‚s in joint 8th place with the judges commenting on it being an "appealingly pale, clean and crisp ros‚ made from high altitude Cinsault and Syrah vines. Delicate strawberry flavours with a nice touch of creaminess". Drink Now Aperitif Dry Light Bodied Pale Pink Carignan, Syrah, Cinsault Bekaa Valley, Lebanon Massaya 2019 Contains Sulphites
