Minervois Rosé 2020 Chateau D'Oupia
Brand: Chateau d'Oupia
There is something quintessential about the association between the Languedoc and crisp, refreshing rosés. Maybe it's the thought of soaking up all that lovely southern french sunshine whilst on holiday without a care in the world. Year in year out André Iché manages to produce one of our most popular pink wines. Predominantly made with Grenache Noir, Cinsault and Syrah this is a pale-coloured rosé with an excellent depth of spangly strawberry fruit. Marie-Pierre continues Andre Iche's remarkable run of award-winning wines from the Minervois region. The 45-hectare estate surrounds the sleepy hamlet of Oupia and the preponderance of old vines (along with the magic ingredient of 100 year-old Carignan vines) guarantees a succulent, intense and richly coloured ‘villages’ Minervois. The intelligent use of even older vines and some new oak results in a stunning Cuvée des Barons with incredibly complex and intense fruit. The Minervois Blanc is made from 49% Marsanne and 49% Roussanne (with just a ‘touche’ of Viognier!), resulting in a particularly floral bouquet, soft peachy fruit and a lively, zesty acidity. Last, but by no means least, is Château d’Oupia from one of the region’s very finest estates. His hand-crafted, very limited selectionwhich he calls Nobilis is sourced from a very small parcel of 50 year-old vines situated on steep hillsides in the mountainous Beaufort zone and is almost opaque in colour, has an amazing texture and a formidably complex black-fruit complexity and velvety tannins.
