Domaine Yves Girardin Beaune 1er Cru, Clos des Vignes Franches 2019, Yves Girardin
Brand: Domaine Yves Girardin
Domaine Yves Girardin, Chateau de la Charriere, Santenay, Cote d'Or Deep ruby in the glass. Pleasant nose of cherry and red fruits with vanilla notes. Smooth, leading into a delicious, full and lively palate with the fruit overtones augmented by spice. Lovely exuberance and a persistent finish. Made from 100% Pinot Noir grown on vines with an average of 45 years old, the grapes are picked by hand and undergo a triage, ie sorting for quality, in both the vineyard and in the winery where they are 100% destemmed. Maceration in the vats takes place for 15 days ( with pumping over and pigeages according to the vintage) and includes a cold pre-fermentation soak for 5 days to extract the maximum amount of fruit. A hot post-fermentation soak is applied to stabilize the colour and the tannins. The wine is matured in French oak barrels (30 % in new oak) for 10 to 12 months. A light filtration takes place before bottling which is done in the waning phase of the moon. Best served at 16C / 17C Will keep for 6 to 9 years.
