Chateau Bourgneuf-Vayron 2010, Pomerol
Brand: Chateau Bourgneuf-Vayron
We tasted this recently and were rendered speechless (not a common state of affairs!): sublimely smooth and elegant but with wonderfully rich, ripe plum fruit. Spectacular structure with velvety tannins offset by a still vibrant acidity. If you're already a Pomerol aficionado, this will reach previously untouched spots. And if you've yet to be convinced, one drop of the Bourgneuf 2010 and you'll never look back! "Delivers a core of anise and red licorice character, with solid grip and definition already and a long, fruit-filled finish. A powerful style of Pomerol."James Molesworth - Wine Spectator90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet-Franc.This Chateau has been a great personal favourite of ours since we started out in business in the late 1970's but, until recently, we had not been able to buy enough wine to warrant listing it. Xavier and Dominique Vayron own 9 hectares of a single vineyard plot on the plateau west of Trotanoy and consistently produce a very substantial Pomerol which tends to have a distinctive whiff of chocolate truffles on the nose and a textured rich fruitiness and a powerful, structured body. They are a 'class act'.
