Afghan Runner

This runner was woven in the Afghan/Pakistan border area using hand spun wools knotted on to a strong cotton foundation. Colours are soft and mellow and have a 'broken' or variegated look to them rather than solid blocks of colour. This is due to the skill of the weaver and the subsequent washing processes. Using local hand spun wools these rugs are deliberately cut quite tight in the pile thereby giving a crisp definition to the geometric design. However they are nonetheless very hardwearing and so are ideally suited to anywhere in the home. This brightly coloured exceedingly long runner measures 19 feet 2 inches long by 2 feet 9 inches wide. ( 5.85 x 0.84 metres ). Yes, it is that long, we've double checked it.
