-Rega Apollo CD Player

The new Rega Apollo CD Player uses the same electronic circuit that can be found in its predecessor. This processor has been rehoused in a custom aluminium casing in order to match the styling of the new Rega Brio amplifier, meaning it will fit seamlessly within a complete system. This casing remains compact, housing the circuitry within Rega’s latest custom half-width case. A top loading mechanism also offers improved usability and unrivalled reliability.

Direct improvements to the analogue and digital outputs have been made through developments of the analogue, digital and control domains, thus ensuring the new Apollo is the perfect partner for the Brio, as well as the ideal “CD format” front-end for the Rega DAC. The Apollo’s output amplifier uses a high spec Wolfson WM8742 Digital-to-Analogue-Converter (DAC). This DAC is the same as that which can be found within all award-winning Rega DACs and will provide you with a pristine, crystal clear reproduction of all your favourite music.

To power this CD player, the Apollo uses “digital” power supplies that feed the CD processor, optical block and laser diode amplifier. To achieve this, the Apollo uses the same high performance, low noise power suppliers that can be found within the Rega reference CD player. These “digital” power supplies vastly improve upon the playability, error correction and the “inner core” processing of the digital CD “spinner” part of the Apollo CD player.

The user interface is controlled through the use of a dedicated display micro-processor. This will ease the workload on the main control processors and offer improved control code stability, usability and speed of initialisation of disc playback. A new remote handset, dedicated to the Apollo CD player, has been supplied as standard and offers the advantage of Rega amplifier functionality.
